What Are RxBIN, RxPCN and RxGroup?

RxBIN, RxPCN and RxGroup are the routing numbers printed on a prescription discount or insurance card. The RxBIN tells the pharmacy which processor to send the claim to, the RxPCN identifies the specific program within that processor, and the RxGroup identifies your plan or savings group. The pharmacist enters all three to apply the right price.
What each code does
RxBIN (Bank Identification Number) routes the claim to the correct processor. RxPCN (Processor Control Number) selects the program. RxGroup identifies your specific plan or discount group.
Why they matter
Without the correct codes, the pharmacy can't apply your discount. They're why a discount card works at the counter at all.
