Georgia has not adopted the ACA Medicaid expansion — instead it runs the Georgia Pathways to Coverage work-requirement waiver, extended through December 31, 2026 (Governor’s office, Sept. 2025) — and 14.0% of Georgians under 65 had no health insurance (Census ACS, 2020–2024). At the same time, about 1.5 million Georgians had some form of Medicare Part D coverage as of mid-2024 (healthinsurance.org, citing CMS), where a plan’s deductible or a non-formulary drug can still leave a cash price cheaper than the copay.
