Prescription savings guide
Is There a Free Prescription Discount Card in Florida?
Updated October 12, 2026 · Español
Short answer. Yes. Florida has free prescription discount cards, including the LowerScript card and county cards such as Live Healthy from the National Association of Counties (NACo).1 None of them is insurance: they help you pay a lower cash price.
What is a prescription discount card?
A discount card is not insurance. It gives you a negotiated cash price at participating pharmacies, and it is used instead of your insurance on that fill, not together with it. If you have insurance, compare the card price with your copay and choose the lower one on each prescription. More in discount card vs insurance.
How to use the free LowerScript card
The LowerScript card is free, needs no sign-up, and you can use it as often as you like.
- Check your price first. Look up your medicine in the price check and see the price before you go to the pharmacy.
- Get your card. Save it to your phone or print it from the card page.
- Show it and pay. Present the card at a participating pharmacy and pay the discounted price.
LowerScript advertises savings of up to 80% off the cash price; savings vary by medicine, dose and pharmacy. See also how to use a prescription discount card.
Other free options
LowerScript is not the only free card. Because they are all free, you can compare the price on each before you pay.
- Live Healthy (NACo). Live Healthy U.S. Counties, a partnership of NACo and the Florida Association of Counties, offers residents a free card for prescriptions not covered by insurance; it can also be used for pet medications.1
- Leon County. Offers the Live Healthy card free to residents, with no fee to join, and one card covers the whole family, including pets.2
- Alachua County. Also lists a prescription discount card, in partnership with NACo.3
